Meet Our Team

Hal

Hal Rosen, CPA

Hal Rosen has over 40 years of experience in business accounting. He started with a "Big Eight" international accounting firm and has held partnership positions with local CPA firms, as well as financial and executive positions with companies in numerous industries. But, the majority of his experience is in working with small businesses like yours. Hal has co-founded more than twelve companies which has given him the real-world, "hands on" experience to help other small business owners. He is a qualified business advisor who can relate to your challenges and help you succeed in today's difficult economy.

Hal is also an Advanced QuickBooks Certified ProAdvisor and has taught classes on how to use QuickBooks to help make smart business decisions. He can train you and your staff on how to use QuickBooks most effectively and efficiently. He is a member of the Intuit Trainer/Writer Network.

Hal is the father of four children and also has 14 grandchildren. He has been actively involved as a soccer coach and referee, and is an avid fan and season ticket holder of Real Salt Lake, the local Major League Soccer team. He is also an avid cyclist (mostly road biking, with a little mountain biking).

Kent

Kent Fitzgerald, CPA

Kent Fitzgerald has been a Certified Public Accountant for over 35 years. He has worked for a variety of accounting companies throughout his career, and has been a CPA firm owner and managing partner for 30 years. Kent has specialized his practice to focus on tax return preparation for business and individuals and IRS and State Audit resolutions. He is very active in his community, including service on the Murray Power Board, Murray City Telecommunication Board, Bike for Kids Utah, and active involvement in the Murray Rotary Club. He enjoys spending time with his wife and five children, reading, mountain biking, jeeping, and soccer.

 
Kevin

Kevin Baggaley, CPA

Kevin became a Certified Public Accountant in 2002 and has a wide range of accounting experience. Out of school, he worked for a local CPA firm where he was able to perform audits, reviews and tax preparation. After being at the firm for a short time, Kevin was hired by one of the firm’s clients as their controller. As a controller, he gained experience in running the everyday accounting functions for a medium sized business. This included general ledger reconciliations, payroll, bookkeeping, etc. Kevin later moved on to work for the local power company as an auditor and a budgeting and forecasting specialists. This gave Kevin the opportunity to apply Generally Accepted Accounting Principles on a much larger scale including managing budgets of nearly half a billion dollars.

Kevin has maintained a small clientele through his years in corporate accounting. This clientele continued to grow over the years to the point where it was time for him to get back into public accounting on a full-time basis. He has advanced skills in Microsoft Excel and a strong knowledge of computer systems. Kevin’s experience across a wide range of fields in accounting and computer systems is a benefit to our clients.

 
Corey

Corey Meurer, CPA

Corey has over 14 years of accounting and management experience. He received his accounting degree from Brigham Young University in 2000 and his Masters of Business Administration from the University of Utah in 2010. He started out his career working for PricewaterhouseCoopers in assurance and advisory services and moved on to a local CPA firm as a business tax manager for the past several years. Corey’s practice has focused on serving the payroll, tax planning and tax return compliance needs of small to medium sized businesses and high-net-worth clients. He enjoys consulting with clients on tax & management strategies as well as business entity structure set-up. When he’s not at the office, he spends time with his family, skiing, and playing tennis.

 
Josh

Joshua Stats, Accounting Manager

Joshua Stats has worked with RFBM CPAs since December 2004. He has a Bachelor of Science Degree from the University of Utah. Besides being the IT technician of the office, Josh is also an Advanced QuickBooks Certified ProAdvisor and has worked with clients in multiple industries: including, non-profit, construction, manufacturing, retail and more. He has extensive experience with all versions of QuickBooks including: QuickBooks Online, QuickBooks for Mac and QuickBooks Pro, Premier and Enterprise. Josh’s main functions include QuickBooks consulting, bookkeeping services, payroll processing, QuickBooks account setup, QuickBooks version downgrades (Enterprise to Pro or Premier), multiple QuickBooks file merge, tax preparation and new business setup. In a prior life, Josh also gained professional experience working for different financial, bank and government institutions including the IRS. Some of Josh’s favorites include: the color blue, corny jokes, running marathons, Cherry Coke, all desserts (especially donuts and sugar cookies), Disneyland, BYU football, home projects, and spending time with his kick butt wife and two children.

 
Brent

Brent Peterson, CPA, Tax Manager

Brent has 19 years of experience in public accounting with extensive experience in tax compliance work in the corporate, partnership, trust, retirement plan, and individual areas. Brent specializes in tax planning and consulting for small and medium sized business owners. His goal is to help his clients pay the least amount in taxes legally required. He obtained his Bachelors and Masters degrees in accounting from Southern Utah University. Brent enjoys spending time with his family, fishing, and watching sports.

 
Martin

Martin Buell, Staff Accountant

K. Martin (Marty) Buell has over 30 years of experience working with Kent Fitzgerald in the accounting industry and he’s been the individual tax manager and network manager for the past ten years. He is in charge of individual tax return preparation and reviews and he assists our clients with remote cloud access, tax, accounting, and QuickBooks questions. In his spare time, he enjoys spending time with his family and friends, watching Grizzlies hockey games, riding his Harley and scooters, and skiing.

 
Madison

Madison Price, Staff Accountant

Madison Price has been a member of RFBM CPAs since March 2014. She has a Bachelor's of Science in Accounting from the University of Utah and has three years of experience managing money for an elementary school program. Madison is a QuickBooks ProAdvisor and has experience in QuickBooks Pro, Premier, Enterprise, and Online. She is our in-house QuickBooks Online expert and spends much of her time training clients to use QBO. She also provides bookkeeping services and payroll services. Outside of the office, Madison can usually be found at Bear Lake, with her family, or baking/eating delicious treats. 

 
Yoko

Yoko Munzert, Staff Accountant

Yoko Joined RFBM CPAs in October 2014. She has a RTRP(IRS Registered Tax Return Preparer) certificate and worked for a large tax retail company where she gained experience preparing and filing tax returns for individuals and sole proprietors. She has 7 years of experience in International Export/Import Trade between the United States and Japan. She was responsible for researching and applying government trade regulations for shipper and consignees and meeting customs requirements. She also has experience in international business and warehouse operations. She enjoys reading books and visiting her family in Japan.

 
Marc

Marc Robles, Staff Accountant

Marc is no stranger to providing accounting services to clients, having already spent three years as an accountant in his previous positions. He has lead onboarding client’s books not just in the U.S but also in Australia. Marc has more than five years of experience in the fields of general accounting, finance, and taxation. Before joining RFBM in January 2017, Marc worked for a diverse range of organizations, including large corporations and private sectors (Construction, Manufacturing, Advertising, Lending Company, Accounting and Audit firm, etc.). With vast experience and knowledge, Marc successfully blends top-level accounting service with high quality performance and reports given to clients. Marc loves playing basketball and online games during his free time. He also enjoys spending time with his family and friends and going to the beach.

Jane Simons, Staff Accountant

Jane joined the RFBM CPAs team in June of 2017. She has her Bachelors of Science degree in Accounting and will soon be going back to school for her Masters to achieve her goal of becoming a CPA. Jane is also a Certified QuickBooks Online ProAdvisor.  Her background is in real estate and small business. She has run her own small business for many years and uses that experience to help our clients grow and maintain a sustainable business and help them achieve the end goal of financial freedom. When not at work, you will find Jane with her awesome husband and her two amazing sons. Her family means the world to her and, although she is completely outnumbered (even her dog is a boy), that just means she has six pockets for her stuff to go in so she doesn’t need to bring a purse! She loves to travel, play golf, go to amazing restaurants, camp, ride ATVs, play croquet, watch scary movies, read, and just sit outside on beautiful nights enjoying the fresh air.

 
Sarah

Sarah Winstead, Office Manager

Sarah Winstead has over thirteen years of experience in office management, including general bookkeeping and payroll, many versions of QuickBooks, human resources and employee benefits, clerical duties, organizing, and marketing. She joined RFBM CPAs in January of 2014 after moving to Salt Lake City from Missoula, MT in search of first-class dirt biking and skiing. Sarah makes sure everything is running smoothly behind the scenes at our office and often assists with client bookkeeping and tax returns.

 
Travis

Travis Steadman, Intern

Travis Steadman has been with RFBM CPAs since February 2016. He earned his Associate’s of Science degree in Business from Salt Lake Community College in May 2016 and is currently a student at BYU working towards receiving his Bachelor’s and Master’s of Accounting. He has two years of experience working with individuals and small business owners as a Financial Services Representative with a local bank. When he is not working or studying he can be found spending time with his wife, going for hikes, and reading.

 
Matt

Matthew Falk, Office Administrator

Matt Falk has been with RFBM since October of 2016. Originally from San Francisco, Matt recently attended Orange Coast College in Los Angeles to earn his Associate’s Degree in Business. He is currently a student at the University of Utah pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Management. Matt’s professional history includes a background in customer service, real estate management, and construction development. When he is not working or in class, Matt enjoys spending his time hiking, fishing, and watching the NFL’s 49ers play.

 
Jessica

Jessica Baggaley, Office Administrator

Jessica joined our team in February of 2017. She has a Bachelor of Arts in Finance from the University of Utah and speaks Spanish fluently. She has previously worked in the banking industry, offering customer service and payment processing for loan customers. In her free time she volunteers in the classroom, is a Cub Scout leader, and loves watching her boys play Bingham sports and her daughter dance. Jessica is a varsity volleyball official and still loves to play. Her other favorites include: anything Disney, her family, and chocolate-covered cashews.

 
Bernadette

Bernadette Sabinay, Executive and Marketing Assistant

Bernadette joined RFBM in February 2017 and has been an executive assistant providing administrative and business support to top management for more than four years. She holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Office Administration and also an Associates in Computer Secretarial. Aside from being an executive assistant, she has extensive experience working as a sales person from generating leads to client presentations. Her work history also includes experience preparing and working on government bids. She spends her free time watching movies or having coffee with friends and she also loves to travel and explore the beauty of nature.
